KUAN YIN
Originally known as Avalokiteswara (the lord who regards), is a highly revered mainfestation of the Buddha who
appears in Chinese scriptures around 400 A.D. Kuan Yin means "one who hears the cries of the world" and
personifies the compassion of the Buddha for the needy. She is the embodiement of the yin principle. Kuan Yin is
usually represented as a young female diety but has the power to assume whatever form necessary to carry out her
vow which is to appear in any way necessary to lead beings out of suffering. Here she holds a rosary which is a
symbol of her compassion for the world. This figure made of composite stone has a dark green finish and measures
6" tall. A beautiful piece which transmits inner peace. Would make a wonderful center piece for a room in which
quiet was encouraged. Instinctively, the attention is drawn in, away from worldly thoughts and imaginations. This is a
very soothing piece to be in the presence of. And...upon entering one see the Kuan Yin and one is comforted by
ones own stillness and calm.
Good luck bidding!!
