I only spent a little time with Parker, but he left something indelible and influential in my space. He had a unique, bright and wonderfully forward quality to him. He was sharp of perception and wit. He had good understanding. Maybe his modesty made him so powerful. It was an honor to know him.

I remember laughing till I hurt while he read an essay of his. I remember something he said to me which has rung with me ever since, maybe as much because of his tone as words, "The most we can hope for is to pass it on."

It is a very great thing he left the artifacts he did in audio and video. Those will have the power to touch people for a very long time.
