SmogOpsTM Chicago: The Apothecary

By Fred Schill

Iven Lourie will be in Chicago in mid-June to attend the American Book Association convention and will offer a workshop in dynamic writing. Iven is an editor with Gateways Publishing and a practicing poet. He has published several works including Miro’s Dream with E.J. Gold. His workshop is tentatively set for June 22nd.

Tanks for the Memories by Dr. John Lilly and E.J. Gold is now available. This book is a wonderful tool. It provides various perspectives on Floatation Tanks. These are transcribed talks given by the inventor of the tanks, Dr. John Lilly, and E.J. Gold. The perspectives provide a manner in which to explore the tank space. “There will be a guide present somewhere at the way station, and you definitely should ask, ‘Where am I?’ and establish that. If it’s someplace you would rather not be, then definitely reenter the tank.” E.J. Gold, Tanks for the Memories.

Zen Practice / Zen Basics. This introductory workshop will be offered monthly beginning in May. The workshop has opened several chambers, not normally accessed for those who have participated in the past Zen Basics events. One participant was heard to say, “hey, we were really far out there, weren’t we?” It’s a 2 1/2 hour experience. Details will soon follow.

Art Collaborations & Bardo Movies continue to be offered at the Apothecary every other week. Art every other Tuesday and Movies every other Thursday. Contact the Apothecary for more information.

The Labyrinth Readers Society will be offering two opportunities to use The American Book of The Dead by E.J. Gold. First the Apothecary will offer a 12 week course which will prepare one to give readings for the dead and dying. The certified course by the LRS will give the participants the opportunity to experience the Teaching and be of service for those who are about to enter transit or are in transit. The ABD makes much more sense when it is used and practiced rather than just read in a comfortable chair. Additionally, Patricia Elizabeth, a professional reader and a founding member of the Labyrinth Readers Society will be in Chicago to present a two day intensive workshop with the ABD. The two day workshop will occur near the end of June.

Art with a Heart. A post-pop art show will take place in mid-June. The art exhibition will feature Post-Pop canvases from over 20 artists from the Grass Valley Graphics Group including E.J. Gold, Marianne Macfarlane, Douglass-Truth, Della Heywood, Tom X., Richard Hart, and others.

The Apothecary is available to answer any questions regarding this calendar of events. Additionally, ask us for any information on our tools and products — Dreamwalker Dream Pillows/ oils/ journals/ pouches, Jewels of Ancient Lands Jewelry, Transformational and Consciousness Books/ Audio/ Video from Gateways Books and Cloister Recordings, Art featuring E.J.
