Fortress Beta Test Preview Announced

By Claude Needham (a.k.a. General Xxaxx)

E.J. Gold is putting BardoTownTM into cyberspace.

In a matter of mere months, serious voyagers will be able to pull up the Bardos on their computers.

Gold has stated that work with the ABD as well as with BardoTownTM is the work he came here to do.

Gold has been working toward this since the inception of the Institute twenty five years ago. Finally, the technology (hardware and software) has caught up to his vision. We can’t express enough how important this development is, therefore we’re going to keep mentioning it over and over again. This work in cyberspace is important in general, and importantly, it’s important to you specifically.

There’s a wonderful cartoon about three guys and a dog falling down an endless pit. The first panel shows them screaming, yelling, and generally freaking out. The second panel labelled "Six months later" shows them kicking back, obviously relaxed with the whole situation. This illustrates the whole point — the answer to the question, "so what’s the big deal? why get involved in this cyberspace/bardo stuff anyway?"

You can practice run your bardo, i.e. go through it over and over again, until you are just as relaxed about those minor little bardo ambushes as the guys falling down the pit six months later. And the best part is you can leave the pit just by turning off your computer. Ergo, you can practice at your own pace. Not what you can expect at terminus (i.e. death of the machine), when the equivalent of a five-stage retrorocket is strapped to your back and someone lights the fuse as they whisper in your ear, "So long sucker — you’re on your own."

At the moment you’re not alone, so I recommend you take advantage of the opportunity — give us a call, or those with an e-mail address can get periodic updates on the progress of the game. Send in your address to Uncle Claude c/o this Bulletin.

The games are not being officially released yet, but if you are a Blueline Cafe operator, we will be sending out Beta test copies. Hint for the overly dense: now might be a time for you to declare your intention to become a Blueline Cafe operator.
